Customs

English and Fijian are the official languages of Fiji.  If on your trip you were to visit a village it is appropriate to bring a gift of kava. Tilting your head down and not making eye contact shows respect. To greet amoung indigenous Fijians you would say "Bula" which means health. For a formal meeting you would use a handshake and say"Ni Sa Bula" which is a more formal way of saying "Bula". To say "How are you?" in Fijian is "Vacava tiko?".  A very offensive act is to stare.
